In some cases, the water that powers the turbine can be
in the form of a fast flowing river. In this case, the turbine is placed on
the bank of the river, and the river flow is enough to turn the turbine (like
the water wheels that used to be used to mill flour).
Tidal power can also be harnessed using a water turbine. The
rising tide forces water into a storage reservoir, spinning the turbine. Then
when the tide recedes, the water is allowed to flow out, again rotating the
turbine.
The last category in the prime mover section is the wind turbine.
