E4a) What's a Pipeline? Description

A pipeline is a series of connected pipes, equipped with pumps and valves and other control devices, for moving natural gas.

natural gas pipeline

In North America, almost all transportation and delivery of natural gas occurs through pipelines. From the hole in the ground where it leaves the earth, to the collection points, the processing plants, the delivery pipelines, the large city hubs, the local distribution company, all the way to your street and into your house – natural gas travels through a pipe.

Pipelines are the preferred mode of transportation for several reasons: they are less damaging to the environment, less susceptible to theft, more economical, reliable, convenient and safe than any other form of transportation.
