D2a) What's an Engine? Description
An engine is an internal combustion engine (so the fuel is burned inside the engine) that creates a backwards and forwards motion (reciprocating). In the case of a car engine, the reciprocating motion is the up and down motion of the piston, which is converted into the rotating motion of the drive-shaft.
