A cogen installation with
an internal combustion engine looks like this:
1. The fuel goes in.
2. The fuel is burned inside the piston. These tiny explosions
push the piston down.
3. The piston turns a shaft, which turns the generator.
4. The generator creates electricity.
5. Water that cools the engine (jacket water) collects some more
heat from the hot exhaust gases.
6. The hot water (or steam) is used by the factory for space heating,
process heating etc.
7. A radiator is used to cool the water, so it can cool the engine.
